Modal Analysis & ODS
Modal analysis and Operating Deflection Shape (ODS) analysis.
Modal analysis identifies a structure’s natural frequencies and mode shapes; ODS visualizes how it actually moves in operation. Together they answer the most critical question in vibration diagnostics: is the structure resonating — and where?
The method was applied, among others, in the resonance study of an intermediate shaft COOPER bearing (see Vibration Measurements and Analysis).
Case studies & field applications
Case study — intermediate shaft COOPER BEARING
Measurements of vibrations and resonance at an intermediate shaft COOPER BEARING.
- 01Modal analysis. Natural frequency identification
- 02Resonance mapping. Critical speed determination
- 03Damping assessment. Cooper bearing performance
