Applications

  • All types of conductive ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic tubular products
  • Welds and plates in electrically conductive materials
  • Coating thickness measurement (conductive and non-conductive) on metallic substrates
  • Crack depth determination and corrosion detection

Case studies & field applications

Heat exchanger inspection with specialized eddy current probes

Rapid inspection of heat-exchanger tube bundles for cracks, corrosion and wall-thickness loss, without dismantling the bundle.

Initial inspection requires specific probe selection based on tube type, diameter, and wall thickness specifications.

Accreditation Scope Standards

This test is included in the Official Scope of Accreditation of the laboratory (E.SY.D. Cert. No. 134) and is performed in accordance with the following standards:

  • ASTM E243Standard Practice for Electromagnetic (Eddy Current) Examination of Copper and Copper-Alloy Tubes
  • ASME BPVC Section V, Article 8Eddy Current Examination
  • ASTM E426Standard Practice for Electromagnetic (Eddy Current) Examination of Seamless and Welded Tubular Products, Titanium, Austenitic Stainless Steel and Similar Alloys
  • EN ISO 17643Non-destructive testing of welds — Eddy current examination of welds by complex plane analysis
  • ASTM E690Standard Practice for In Situ Electromagnetic (Eddy Current) Examination of Nonmagnetic Heat Exchanger Tubes
